Proton Persona facelift get cosmetic tweaks and not much else

First it was the Proton Iriz, and with the B-segment hatch being so closely related to the Persona, it was only natural the sedan would be next to receive almost identical upgrades with its facelift; making the pair the first facelifts post-Geely.

Images from Proton detail a new grille replicating the overall design of the “Ethereal Bow” and “Infinite Weave” on the X70 that foreshadows Proton’s new design language. It’s also the single, most distinctive difference between the Persona and Iriz.

A redesigned front bumper now houses sleek LED DRLs sitting over honeycomb trim pieces that negate the front fog lights. In the rear, the Proton name is spelt out above the number plate and replaces the previously centred emblem. There’s a new rear bumper and a little spoiler at the edge of the bonnet.

Completing the facelift is a new eight twin-spoke wheel design and a shark fin radio antenna.

Inside, both B-segment models share an identical dashboard so no prizes for guessing that it gets the same deal as the Iriz. There’s an improved touchscreen infotainment system and a coloured multi-information display in the instrument cluster.

That new gear knob found in the Iriz also makes the leap over. Interestingly, the seat upholstery has been updated to an eye-catching asymmetrical design.
