Think B-segment SUVs and it’s always the Japanese that spring to mind first; that duo being the Honda HR-V and the Mazda CX-3. Lest we forget, the French have had a couple of contenders as well in the form of the Peugeot 2008 and the Renault Captur but now it’s three with the all-new Citroen C3 Aircross.

The C3 Aircross measures 4.15-metres long, a round 2.0-metres wide and 1.64-metres tall with a wheelbase of 2.6-metres. It’s pretty sizable inside. The rear seats are tilt-and-slide with a 60:40 split. Boot space is 410 litres but can grow to 520-litres if you slide the rear seats all the way forward and lower the two-step boot floor.

Still inside, the kit count comprises fabric seats, auto air-conditioning, keyless entry, push-start, cruise control, speed limiter and a multi-function steering wheel. Infotainment is courtesy of a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Mirror Link, GPS, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Being French, some quirkiness is par for course. The exterior perfectly illustrates this, ensuring the C3 Aircross will always stand out against its more plaid Japanese peers. Headlights are halogen with LED DRLs while the taillights get a 3D-effect design. Wheels are 17-inch pieces.

Motivation comes from a 1.2-litre turbo-three PureTech with 110hp and 205Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front via a six-speed automatic. Performance figures are average with a century sprint time of 10.4-seconds and a top speed of 200kph.

Safety kit is the standard of six airbags, stability control, ABS, BA, EBD and Isofix anchorage points. There’s also a rear-view camera.

There’ll be four colours to get the C3 Aircross in; Soft Sand, Natural White, Passion Red and Breathing Blue. Do note that the red and blue will be paired with black accents on the side-view mirror, headlight surrounds and roof rails. As for the Soft Sand and white, the accents will be a striking Orange.

It’s pricedat RM115,888 on-the-road excluding insurance and is tagged with a five-year/120,000km warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance and a year’s access to the SkyLounge at Subang Skypark. The first 100 units sold will get a three-year free service package.
