Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ 4-Door Coupe is as impressive as is name sounds

Big wheels and a bigger engine in a four-door body that puts supernatural fear into other motorists, can it be more perfect?

That Mercedes-AMG has added two more doors to the AMG GT somehow feels inevitable, christening this new variant as the GT 4-door Coupe. And why not? The C63 and E63 are essentially four-door limousines so why not let the AMG GT in on the fun. After all, the back door will crack open new markets, specifically people who want all the power and would like to share it with two or three others.

Also coming in threes is the number of horses you’d like under your control, which is produced by two engines, for the GT 4-door. No matter which car you pick, all have a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT inside the transmission tunnel and are four-wheel driven, hence the moniker 4MATIC+.

Behind door number one is the GT 43 that struts with 367hp and 500Nm that comes from a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo engine. The power gets an injection of 22hp and 250Nm from the EQ Boost. It will accomplish the 0-100kph spring in 4.9 seconds and goes up to a top speed of 270kph. This configuration is yours for RM1,098,888.

Above that, the GT 53 also has a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo engine under the hood but tinkered to hammer out 435hp and 520Nm of torque. Like the GT 43, this car also gets a boost of 22hp and 250Nm of torque. It needs 4.5 seconds to get to 100kph from zero and has a top speed of 285kph. You need to part with RM1,298,888 to have this in your driveway.

At the top of the class sits the GT 63 S, which you can have for RM1,798,888. Although the other two are no slouches, it will be the GT 63 S that you’ll be pinning for. The motivation for this uber-limousine comes from a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine that hits with 639hp and 900Nm to destroy the 0-100kph sprint in 3.2 seconds, then runs faster than everyone else with a 315kph top speed.

The GT 63 S features a Race program with Drift Mode, where it becomes a classic rear-wheel drive car that smokes and munches tyres for fun.

Get inside the GT 4-door, and you’ll find equal amounts of luxury mingling with practicality. The added doors allow easy access for two or three more people at the back; depending on your rear seat choice. The seats are wrapped in Nappa leather/Dinamica microfibre.

The exterior is dripping with aggression even though it is wrapped in a tuxedo. The GT 63 S comes with the AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG Exterior Night Package and AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package. Still, there are many design elements to admire, like the Panamericana grille and the LED lights, but we’ll wager that your attention will be captured by the new 21-inch AMG Five Hole wheels.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door looks very good. And, in a price point where the only four-door options are British luxe-barges, there’s finally a car that will come to spoil the party.
