BMW Malaysia has launched the all-new X4 in Malaysia with a sole xDrive 30i M Sport trim. The second generation X4; chassis code G02, will pack all the M Sport toys and be locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah with pricing estimated at RM380,000 for now.

What exactly does M Sport constitute? Well, for starters it includes massive 20-inch M Double spoke wheels, M Sport aerodynamic styling equipment and M Sport Brakes that can be pinpointed with its signature blue hue. Adaptive LED headlights are standard.

Under the hood sits the familiar 2.0-litre turbo four TwinPower Turbo that kicks out 252hp and 350Nm of torque. There’s the eight-speed automatic sending it to all four wheels via the “x” in xDrive. The performance numbers aren’t shabby at 6.3-seconds for the century sprint and a top speed of 240kph.

If your eyes tell you this X4 looks a little larger, you can skip that trip to the optician. It’s grown by 81mm to 4,752mm in length, 37mm 1,918mm in width and the wheelbase has stretched by 54mm to 2,864mm. Out back, the rear track has grown by 30mm for improved driving dynamics.

Engineers went the extra mile to ensure that even with the crucial tapering off roofline, rear headroom and shoulder room is better. Boot space is now 525-litres and will open up to 1,430-litres with the rear bench folded

Step into the cabin and you’ll be greeted by the free-standing 10.25-inch Navigation System Professional touchscreen. It’s joined by the 12.3-inch “Black Panel” instrument cluster and a heads-up display with colour. All these can be accessed by the voice command system that’s been updated with natural language commands.

Triple-zone air-conditioning and a Harman Kardon sound system with 16 speakers completes the creature comforts for the interior.

The interior is wrapped in Vernasca leather in either black or red; with the scarlet shade solely for the Alpine White and Carbon Black exterior colours. Other exterior shades include Flamenco Red and Phytonic Blue.

Unfortunately, the X4 isn’t available yet but will soon; 1 June 2019. The estimated pricing is inclusive of the BMW Malaysia’s five year unlimited mileage warranty, free scheduled servicing for a period of time and the tyre warranty programme.
