OK, raise your hands if you have, as a kid, climbed into a packing box and imagine you’re flying the X-Wing or driving a sports car. Ah, to be young again…

Well, it looks like someone in Skoda UK must have had played in such box and decided that it was a good idea to make a life-sized SUV made entirely out of cardboard. So, Skoda UK threw some quid at Lazerian, a Britsh design studio, to build a life-sized cardboard Karoq. The hand-built SUV is named Kid Karoq.

Skoda then asked some kids what they want in a car. They answered as how any kid would: that they want speakers to play their favourite music, a tablet and WiFi to play games and stream programmes, and a projector to watch the programmes. How come no one said they wanted a library?

The Kid Karoq has wireless Canton speakers, a fully functional 9.2-inch Columbus infotainment system taken from the real Karoq, a WiFi hotspot, a film projector, play-time bean bags, a toy box and a games console. The Karoq also has a slide and a ball pool filled with 1,500 balls. Skoda said that it is “the precise number of balls that fit into the real Karoq’s cavernous 1,810-litre boot space.” And the piece de resistance… a multi-colour disco ball to replace ambient lighting. How cool is that!

As for the drivetrain... well, nothing else can be as powerful as a child's imagination.

Money can’t buy the Kid Karoq because it’s not for sale. If you want one you have to make it yourself. Perhaps the more creative among us can start a project like this one? Let us know if you do. In the meantime, watch the video.
