Perodua has already sold almost 30 per cent of its 2017 volume from just the new Myvi

60,000 bookings and 28,000 deliveries so far puts them well on track to meet 2018’s target as water remains wet and grass is green

We’re barely done with the first quarter of 2018 and Perodua has already sold almost 30 per cent of its 2017 total volume from just the new Myvi. That’s 204,900 units for the whole of 2017. On the other hand, they’ve received 60,000 bookings for the new Myvi of which 28,000 have already been delivered.

Overlapping the bookings with last year’s total industry volume (TIV) of 576,635 units would reveal a percentage of 10.4 per cent; or roughly one of every 10 new cars sold would have been a Myvi.

While it’s true that the numbers don’t really prophesise much about Perodua’s goal of 209,000 units or the 2018 TIV as it’s way too early, it does put into perspective the sheer number or Myvis that will be hogging the overtaking lanes soon.

Perodua’s managing director, Datuk Zahari Husin, said that orders placed soon for the new Myvi will most likely be fulfilled before the Raya holidays. He added that all 2017 bookings for the new Myvi have been delivered.

Zahari expects Perodua’s market share for February to surpass 41 per cent with 17,100 units against the 41,100 units TIV for the month. Of the 17,100 units, it comprised 6,500 Myvis, 5,000 Axias, 3,700 Bezzas and 1,900 Alzas.

The first two months of the year has seen the carmaker push 34,800 units over the 30,800 for the corresponding timeline in 2017; an increase of 13.1 per cent.
