Incessant teasing seems to be the standard operating procedure for anything new coming out. Marvel’s well-oiled marketing machine did it for Avengers – Infinity War and BMW jumped on the bandwagon as well for its 8-Series with endless teasers. Heck, they even launched the racecar version of it before the roadgoing one is out.

But, the end is nigh for those dying to catch a glimpse of the production car in the metal because who doesn’t like to look at things they can’t afford, am I right or am I right? The 8-Series will make its global debut on 15 June at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, right alongside its racecar sibling; the M8 GTE, that will be taking a crack at winning the grueling endurance race.

Accompanying the announcement was… you guessed it, another godforsaken teaser of the 8-Series. This time it’s lurking behind in the shadows of the M8 GTE and a simple zoom shows that it’s still very much resembling the concept from last year.

Of course there’ll be a number of variants but first up will be the M850i xDrive Coupe with the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and 532hp under the hood that comes straight out of the 7-Series that it shares a platform with. It goes without saying that a number of the limo’s engines will probably hop over to the 8-Series as well.

Following that, expect the M760Li’s 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 with 610hp and 800Nm to be dropped in because the 8 will be a flagship and it has to sail with the brand’s flagship engine. Other engines such as the range of six-cylinder petrol and diesels should make their way in eventually.

A M8 will be available too, considering there’s a M8 GTE racecar. That’ll defy physics with the 592hp V8 found in the M5.
