You can argue that winning car club battles are akin to the keyboard warrior championships and only good for internet points, which in turn are as useful as monopoly money in the real world. Nonetheless, let’s not take anything away from SQUAD’s victory at the Goodyear Malaysia Battle of the Clubs (BOTC) 2018.

Founded in late 2016 by enthusiasts made up of BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz car owners, the club were crowned champions among the 14 car clubs that entered the six challenges. SQUAD garnered 410 points to sit atop the podium with Volkswagen Club Malaysia in second on 390 points and Antera Motorsports a fraction behind on 380 points.

The BOTC 2018 was flagged off in July with a treasure hunt, followed by a paintball challenge in August. Things took a motorsports turn in September with a go-kart endurance race followed by a time attack gymkhana in October. The penultimate challenge was held in October as well; a futsal tournament.

The last of the challenges was probably the trickiest with a tandem drift battle in Blastacar drift karts between Antera Motorspots, SQUAD and Volkswagen Club Malaysia; the top three clubs with the most amount of points going head-to-head which ultimately saw SQUAD come out on top.
