No, you can’t buy the Civic Type-R Mugen concept

Yes, you can sit in it at the Malaysia Autoshow but don’t touch the gear knob

Every boy racer will have their hearts either skipping a beat or working overtime to pump blood into the phallic region when they lay eyes on the Honda Civic Type-R Mugen concept. It’ll be on display together with a handful of other models at Hall A of the Malaysia Autoshow happening until 14 April 2019 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

Besides the Civic Type-R Mugen that’s been stealing all the attention, Honda also brought out the CR-V Mugen concept, Jazz Mugen, BR-V Special Edition and HR-V RS. You’ll also be able to get up close and personal with the standard range of cars from them.

This marks the first time the Civic Type-R Mugen is displayed in southeast Asia but how exactly is it different from the garden variety Civic Type-R? Well not by much actually. It’s mostly cosmetic with a catchy paint job called Carnival Red because any time behind the wheel with this car is definitely a party.

A total of 12 items make up the Mugen part of this. On the exterior, that comprises the:
- carbon grille garnish
- front lip spoiler
- rear under spoiler
- side garnish
- LED taillight
- 20-inch wheels
- wheel nut set
- Mugen body stickers

For the interior, less is more as Mugen just adds in:
- sports steering wheel
- leather shift knob
- sports mat
- scuff plate

Visitors can also experience Honda’s advanced technologies such the Honda Sensing with the Honda Sensing Cart built to mimic the functions in the actual vehicles. A virtual reality sensory experience is on hand to get a feel of what it’s like driving Honda vehicles without actually getting behind the wheel of it.
