Lighter, faster, cuts through the air better and with Maranello’s most powerful V8, it’s everything a new Ferrari should be

The Ferrari F8 Tributo made its South East Asian debut in Kuala Lumpur as Naza Italia, the official distributor of Ferrari in Malaysia, officially launched it just a month after its global debut in Geneva.

It replaces the 488TGB and in true Ferrari fashion, is better at almost everything. The 3.9-litre V8 now has the distinction of being Maranello’s most powerful series production V8 with 720hp and 770Nm of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels via a seven-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission. Performance figures are 2.9-seconds for the century sprint and a top speed of 340kph.

Ferrari managed to cut quite a bit of poundage; 40kg to be exact. That means the F8 Tributo weighs in at 1,330kg if you splurge on the optional lightweight options.

It’s a whole lot more slippery through the air too. Aerodynamics has been given a major boost with the F1-inspired front S-Duct that was seen on the 488 Pista and generates vertical loads on the front. Smaller LED headlights sacrifice space for brake cooling ducts and the underneath features a flat undertray with vortex generators. Even the rear spoiler is blown for vertical load.

Ferrari says the car is 10 per cent more efficient at cutting through the air. The latest Slip Angle Control (ver. 6.1) and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE+) help keep you from taking an off-detour in your car.

A smaller steering wheel with controls improves the emotional connection with the car, something very important in a Ferrari. There’s a 7.0-inch touchscreen display for the passenger and the rest of the cabin isn’t a bad place to be in.

It starts at RM1,068,000 but of course that’s before taxes, duties and the endless customisation options.
